#1 Place for Development in Sydney

North St Marys is about to get finger-lickin’ convenient, with Penrith Council giving the green light to a new $3M KFC development – the suburb’s first and NSW’s only KFC open 24/7, seven days a week.

Approved on April 11, the single-storey restaurant will be built at 2 Christie Street, integrated into the existing 7-Eleven service station at the corner of Christie Street and Forrester Road. It will be the first time St Marys locals can grab a bucket of chicken without having to drive to Emerton, St Clair or Minchinbury.

The plans outline a 290 sqm food premises to be built on the right-hand side of the current 7-Eleven building. A single-lane drive-thru will be positioned on the left and wrap around the rear of the store, designed to optimise vehicle flow in and out of the site. Minor alterations will be made to the convenience store to accommodate the build, and while nine carparks will be lost in the process, the development includes provisions for dine-in, drive-thru and delivery.

Inside, the KFC will seat 18 customers and feature a dedicated delivery and pick-up area to support mobile ordering and third-party delivery services. With late-night dining options still limited in the Penrith LGA, especially in the north, the new offering stands to become a key player in the area’s fast-food scene.

Locals won’t have to wait much longer for their first zinger fix – construction is expected to begin soon, with store doors aiming to open late in 2025.
