The NSW opposition has released plans for 12 potential new stations across three rail extensions in Western Sydney. The metro would run north to Tallawong and south to Campbelltown, with a new heavy rail spur linking in from Leppington.

In the north, the Western Sydney Airport Metro would continue from St Marys to Tallawong, where the Metro North West line currently ends.

Stations are shown at Emerton, Bidwill, Marsden Park and Schofields. Schofields already has a heavy rail station, which makes it the natural interchange.

In the south, the metro would extend from Bradfield to Campbelltown, with stops at Bradfield South, Maryland, Pondicherry, Oran Park, Narellan, Mount Annan and Macarthur. A separate heavy rail link would connect Bradfield South to Leppington, with one stop at Rossmore.

This has been years in the making. A joint federal-state scoping study was announced in November 2015, and its final report in March 2018 proposed a north-south link from Schofields to Macarthur via the new airport.

Later that month, the Western Sydney City Deal committed both governments to stage one, which is the airport line now under construction between St Marys and Bradfield. A previously confidential report released in early 2025 set out one scenario: metro to Bradfield South by 2032, Leppington heavy rail to Bradfield South by 2033, St Marys to Schofields by 2037 and on to Tallawong by 2039.
