A $44.9m DA has been lodged to convert a 2.14-hectare residential holding at 1100 Oxford Falls Road into a dedicated sporting campus for Queenwood School for Girls.
The site currently contains a single dwelling and consent is sought to change the use to an educational facility and construct a 5,904 sqm indoor and outdoor sports complex.
The built form centres on a two-court indoor multipurpose hall. A synthetic outdoor multipurpose field is also proposed, capable of accommodating hockey, soccer and 12 tennis courts, supported by flood lighting for evening use.
Oxford Falls is increasingly defined by education and recreation uses, with Oxford Falls Grammar and St Pius X nearby and the heritage listed former Oxford Falls Public School immediately west.
If approved, construction is anticipated from early 2027, generating 149 construction jobs and up to 20 operational roles.
This is a clean test of how much rural-zoned land within an established school cluster can be repositioned under the Transport and Infrastructure SEPP to deliver large-format educational infrastructure in a constrained bushland setting.
