The Campsie Town Centre is poised for a major overhaul, with a new planning proposal set to implement the Campsie Master Plan across a 346-hectare area. Â
The proposal aims to deliver 6,360 new dwellings and 7,500 jobs by 2036, targeting higher-density, mixed-use development in appropriate locations. Â
Past development has often been of poor quality, particularly along Canterbury Road’s E3 Productivity Support zone.Â
Key rezoning initiatives within the town centre include: Â
The plan also prohibits residential development in areas not suited for housing, including Canterbury Road and around Canterbury Hospital. This ensures new development is focussed in accessible, well-serviced areas, supported by public transport and community infrastructure. Â
Minimum parking requirements for fine-grain lots near the future Metro Station have also been removed to encourage sustainable, transit-oriented growth.  Â
