#1 Place for Development in Sydney

The Campsie Town Centre is poised for a major overhaul, with a new planning proposal set to implement the Campsie Master Plan across a 346-hectare area.Ā Ā

The proposal aims to deliver 6,360 new dwellings and 7,500 jobs by 2036, targeting higher-density, mixed-use development inĀ appropriate locations.Ā Ā

Past development has often been of poor quality, particularly along Canterbury Road’s E3 Productivity Support zone.Ā

Key rezoning initiatives within the townĀ centreĀ include:Ā Ā

  • Beamish Street – R3 Medium Density → MU1 Mixed UseĀ Ā
  • NorthernĀ Canterbury Road – R2 Low Density → E1 Local Centre / MU1 / E3Ā
  • Southern Canterbury Road – R3 Medium Density → R4 High Density ResidentialĀ
  • Carrington Street, Phillip Street & Redman Street – R3 Medium Density → R4 High DensityĀ

The plan also prohibits residential development in areas not suited for housing, including Canterbury RoadĀ and aroundĀ Canterbury Hospital. This ensures new development isĀ focussedĀ inĀ accessible, well-serviced areas, supported by public transport and community infrastructure.Ā Ā

MinimumĀ parking requirements forĀ fine-grainĀ lots near the future Metro Station have also been removed to encourage sustainable, transit-oriented growth.Ā Ā Ā
