Western Sydney’s education landscape in the northwest is set for a landmark transformation. Sikh Grammar School Australia has lodged plans for a new primary school and childcare centre at 32 Speets Road in Oakville – a semi rural pocket on the fringe of The Gables and Box Hill growth corridor.
The circa 20,000 sqm site sits within the Hawkesbury LGA and is zoned RU4 – Primary Production Small Lots under the Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan.
Oakville’s landscape still carries the hallmarks of Hawkesbury’s rural past – wide paddocks, small agricultural holdings and detached dwellings set deep within their lots. Yet just one kilometre east, the urban fabric tightens dramatically.
The masterplanned estates of The Gables and Box Hill have redefined this region, replacing paddocks with dense residential communities and a new generation of families. Sikh Grammar School is betting on that evolution and their proposal aims to blend academic excellence with deep-rooted cultural education.
After selling a previously owned site in Rouse Hill, the group set its sights on Oakville – a location large enough to realise the full breadth of their vision. Plans details an early learning centre, long day care and a Kindergarten to Year 6 school, supported by a library, assembly hall, administration facilities and recreational zones.
For the Indian community, the project represents more than bricks and mortar – it’s a generational investment. With an estimated development cost of around $70 million, this is the most significant private education projects before Hawkesbury City Council.
