Macquarie Park is set to reinforce its status as one of Sydney’s leading technology precincts with plans for a $700 million data centre campus at 23 – 25 Waterloo Road.
The proposal, prepared by Willowtree Planning, would see construction of a purpose-built facility spanning 9 levels of office and technical space, alongside 18 high-capacity data walls.
Data centres are often invisible to the public eye, but they sit at the heart of the digital economy. They underpin everything from online banking and emergency systems to cloud storage, artificial intelligence and the platforms businesses use daily.
The subject site, measuring 11,200 sqm, is strategically positioned in Sydney’s northern technology corridor. Macquarie Park already hosts major universities, global corporations and research institutions.
While the precinct has traditionally been dominated by office towers, demand for office space has softened in recent years. Data centres offer a powerful alternative use that not only fills the demand gap but provides a resilient, long-term economic driver for the area.
