#1 Place for Development in Sydney

Holdmark has received approval for 482 homes, including 79 affordable units, around the Caddens Corner shopping centre at 68 – 80 O’Connell Street.

The NSW planning department approved the project on 22 October 2026.

The 8.1-hectare site holds the Woolworths anchored centre and its open-air carpark on the western side, with vacant land to the east.

The project spans 17 buildings, including 11 apartment buildings of 5 – 7 storeys, 5 shop-top housing buildings and a single-storey retail building.

The ground floor carries 3,157 sqm of retail, 173 sqm medical centre and a 204 sqm gym. Operators are yet to be named.

The buildings replace the at-grade carpark, with shopper parking moving into a basement while Caddens Corner keeps trading. A village plaza links the new shops to the centre and a public park sits in the northeast.

The eastern land was once the Kingswood drive-in, which screened films from 1965 until 1984 before becoming a Sydney Trash and Treasure market. Western Sydney University opened Caddens Corner in November 2020.

Next door, Stockland and Western Sydney University’s Werrington planning proposal, exhibited in July 2026, plans 1,500 homes and 12,000 sqm of retail, commercial and community space.
