Newington College has lodged a masterplan for its Stanmore senior campus. It includes detailed plans for a new sports hall and pavilion on Stanmore Road as the school prepares to go co-educational.

The DA covers the 8.7-hectare main campus at 200 – 244 Stanmore Road and the 2,903 sqm Concordia site across the road at 221 – 235 Stanmore Road.

It seeks concept approval for four new building envelopes across the campus.

Stage 1 replaces the tennis and basketball courts with two buildings totalling 7,409 sqm. This includes a 3-storey sports hall with indoor courts, two rooftop courts, a netball show court, a fitness centre and classroom.

Alongside this is a 4-storey pavilion with event and function space, an informal auditorium, learning areas and staff rooms.

Later redevelopment plans include a cafeteria, dining hall, lecture theatre, 4-storey teaching building, a performing arts theatre, gallery and exam centre.

Newington was founded at Silverwater in 1863 under the Wesleyan Methodist Church and moved to Stanmore in 1881. In 2023, the school announced it would be full co-educational by 2033.
