#1 Place for Development in Sydney

Capital Corporation and the Seventh-day Adventist Church are planning a new masterplan for Wahroonga Estate – home to Sydney Adventist Hospital and known as The San.

The 13.36-hectare site sits at the corner of Fox Valley Road and The Comenarra Parkway.

It takes in the hospital campus, the church’s administration building and a row of houses at 158 – 166 Fox Valley Road.

The site is undergoing a major rezoning to permit apartments, shop-top housing, retail and tourist accommodation on the hospital land. It would also lift building heights to 65 metres and raise the estate’s 500-dwelling cap to around 1,104.

11 new buildings will be delivered, ranging from 2 to 19 storeys of residential floor space. In addition, a 19,500 sqm hospital building next to the Clark Tower will be built, as well as 3,800 sqm of consulting suits and 6,400 sqm of retail.

The San opened on 1 January 1903 as the Sydney Sanitarium – a 70-bed hospital on bushland the church acquired in 1898. Today, it is NSW’s largest private hospital with more than 700 beds.

Capital Corporation is already building The Residences next door, which is 162 apartments.
